Absolutely astonishing what what is going on with Arsenal at the tail end of the seasos. 12 April in perticular will haunt not only Arsnal fans but the players and the managers atleast till the end of the season. First Everton overtook Arsenal in the Champions League position race having beaten Sunderland 1-0 earlier today, while Arsenal’s only hope of silverware in the FA Cup was almost smashed by Wigan in the semifinals.
Arsenal had this wonderfull chance of winning the FA Cup with all other three teams were of no match to them, well atleast on paper but the players lacked belief and their showing against Wigan was absolutely pathetic to say they least. Wigan Athletic took the lead through penalty when Jordi Gomez slotted home a neat penalty and Arsenal fans were shell shocked. Though Arsenal kept trying and scored a goal through Per Mertasacker in the 82nd minute of the game.
Off we went to extra time as holders Wigan never gave up, it was 1-1 in the extra time as both teams gave it their all and the semifinal of the FA Cup will be decided by the penalty kicks. I will be posting live updates here from now on plus the match highlights and goals video after the match.
