Liverpool go top of the table with 2-1 win over West Ham and now have 74 points on the table compared to Chelsea’s 72 and City’s 70
Chelsea had leap frogged Liverpool in top of the league position and going into the West Ham game Liverpool knew they can not afford to drop points as both Chelsea and City have kind of easier games from now to the end of the season. Liveprool won this match by 2-1 and both goals came as the result of penalties.
It took Liverpool some time to get going and just as it looked like game will be 0-0 at the break Liverpool won a penalty which was converted by Steven Gerrard for the delight of away fans, which was short lived as West struck back and got the equalizer just before the break through demel.
After the break it was all Liverpool, who created many chances but failed to take any until another penalty came their way and it was Gerrard again who stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home.
