SS Lazio and technical sponsor Macron have unveiled a special edition kit in celebration of the club’s 115th Anniversary.
The retro-look shirt will be worn by I Biancocelesti (The White and Sky Blues) on when they host AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome in 2014/15 Serie A action.
The jersey features a stylized version of the eagle on the SS Lazio crest on its front. It is based on the home shirts worn by the two-time Italian champions during the 1982-83 and 1986-87 seasons. The same eagle image used on the new shirt appeared on the back of the 1982/83 Lazio home kit and on the front of the 1986/87 jersey.
The eagle became a popular inspirational symbol among Lazio fans during the eighties. The decade was tumultuous for the club as it bounced between Serie A and Serie B. The team had to enter a playoff to avoid relegation to Serie C on one occasion.
