In the Europa league final we had Sevilla took on Benfica in what was a massive game for both sides, the final match was played on wednesday night 14th May 2014. The game started with both sides hoping to get hold of the ball in the early exchanges but it was Sevilla who created couple of good chances before heading into the break at 0-0. But after the break it was all Benfica who created many chances but failed to score consistantly which lead the game to the extra time. It was only the 10th time that a europa league (UEFA Cup) final match went into the extra time.
Benfica fans were the loadest in the Juventus stadium in turin, and Benfica’s top goal scorer in Europe Oscar Cordozo missed a couple of chances before team went into the extra time 0-0 and it was penalties which were going to decide the fate of 2014 Europea League final match.
It was Oscar Cordozo who missed the first penalty and Sevilla took the lead 2-1 and eventualy it was spanish side Sevilla who went on to win the final on penalties with the scoreline of 4-2. Claiming first of 2 european crowns going to spanish teams.
