A place in the UEFA Champions League 2013-14 Semifinals was on the line when Chelsea hosted Paris Saint Germain at stamford bridge on tuesday night. Chelsea had to win 2-0 or by atleast three clear goals if PSG scores to make it to the next round. Jose Mourinho promised in the build up to the match that he will risk everything and they have everything to play for in the 2nd leg. A bumper, exciting night was promised to fans and chelsea did lived up to the expectations.
The start of the game was not so bright as their best player this season Eden Hazard got injured and replaced into the 11th minute but replacment Andre Schurrle scored in the 32nd minute to put Chelsea 1-0 up and got the belief in the team. PSG were on the back foot and rather than playing their natural attacking game they went into the shell and struggle to keep the ball positively. Chelsea hit the woodwork twice before halftime.
In the 2nd half Chelsea pilled on the pressure as Zlatan Ibrahimovic looked on from the stands, PSG were able to contain most of the attacks with Thiago Silva playing one of his best games in PSG shirt.
