In probably the biggest game of Manchester United season, they traveled to German where they took on Bayern munich at allianz arena for the 2nd leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie. The first leg at old trafford was a 1-1 draw where Bayern Munich came out as the happier side having scored an away goal and reduced United from winning and scoring more goals.
Manchester United made 4 changed from the first leg starting eleven, Valencia, Kagawa, Evra and Smalling came in for Giggs, Faillini, Buttner and Rio Ferdinend. United had to score to get have any chance of making it to the next round while Bayern Munich could easily afford to sit back and get a 0-0 draw which will put them into the semifinals.
United started the game strong, staying back and hitting Bayern Munich on counter attacks, they had a couple of openings but never got too close to scoring, game finished 0-0 at the break. After the halftime United upped the tempo and Evra scored a cracker to send away fans into frenzy, but the joy was short lived as Bayern Munich not only equilized through Mandzukic but they scored 3 in quick succession with Mullar and Robber scoring late to make it 3-1 and game done and dusted.
