- Lukas Podolski reached Emirates 9 hours ahead of the kickoff and we dont know what he was doing there but that certainly paid off as he scored two quick goals in the first half to put Arsenal 2-0 ahead and killed the tie off before the break.
- The first goal came through a neat through ball when Ozil send Podolski clear through goal with a magnificent through ball and Lukas did not make any mistake as he rounded the keeper and put Arsenal 1-0 ahead.
- His 2nd goal came 10 minutes later with a classic corner kick as Mertesacker headed the corner kick straight to far post where podolski put a touch to make it 2-0 on the night.
- After the 2nd goal went in, I expected Arsenal to just roll over Coventry but credit to the away side who hung in there and created a few chances but a late goal from Giroud finished the tie at 3-0
