Arsenal defeated Benfica in the pre season emirates cup game by 5-0 where Yaya Sanogo scored 4 times while world cup hero Joel Campbell started the game for arsenal and scored their 2nd goal of the game.
- Arsenal started with many youngsters in the starting lineup with Alexies Sanchez on the bench, Yaya Sanogo scored the opening goal within first 25 minutes when Aaron Ramsey created a beautiful low cross for him to tap the ball in.
- Arsenal doubled their lead through Campbell who scored a superb volley goal in the bottom corner after some neat one two by Hector Bellerin who showed attacking intent from the word go.
- Benfica defense was still in portugal as a single chipped throughball opened them up and Campbell squared the ball for Sanogo who made it 3-0 and scored his 2nd of the day.
- Just before the halftime whistle Arsenal scored their 4th of the day and Sanogo completed his hattrick with a deft touch and scored in the near post. Only downer ? his celebrations
- Aaron Ramsey’s shot on goal was saved by Benfica keeper but it fell nicely to Sanogo who tapped him is fourth of the day and there comes another terrible celebration. no wonder any team-mate bother joining.
- Benfica finaly opened the scored through Gaitan who poked home from close range to make it 5-1.
