Ricky Lambert scored for Southampton to put saints 1-0 up agianst United who went with a very strong starting lineup.
On the last weekend of the premier league Southampton took on Manchester United as Giggs took charge of his last match as interim United manager. But the things did not go as planned in the last league game of the season as Ricky Lampbert scored for Southampton just before the half hour mark to put United’s europa league finish in jeoperdy. United of course were fighting for europa league place against Tottenham who won their game.
United fielded a strong side with the likes of Kagawa, Mata, Van Persie and Adnan Januzaj getting starts, but they failed to inspire what was a very lackluster performance in the last league game of the season. Giggs changed the shape of United midfielded by replacing kagawa with michael carrick.
Juan Mata kept his excellent run of form in the last few league games for Manchester United after scoring yet another goal for United and made it 1-1 on the day.
